Yesterday I went to the gym and did the treadmill.
I weighed myself on Friday? and had gained some weight, but was still in the 40's. Yesterday I weighed myself and I had lost 2.4 lb since then.

And that is my report.

Excited: Remember how my mom and I are competing in a Biggest Loser Challenge? Well, the final weigh-in is on Friday. I'm pretty confident in myself. I think I'll get $50 in exchange for the almost 25lb that I've shed. Well, not 25lb since the beginning of the challenge, but since we moved to Texas (and my highest weight ever).

Petrified: On Saturday, I will be on my way to Ohio for Christmas with my whole family! And I'm petrified. I wish I could say that I was scared my family wouldn't recognize me because I've gotten so thin. ;) But I am absolutely terrified about the eating out and Christmas goodies and snowed-in, no-exercise days. I have literally had an anxiety attack thinking about this vacation that should be welcomed and a blessing, not something looming over my head and freaking me out. I am so scared of what may happen over this holiday, of how much I might gain back.
Bottom line: I don't trust myself yet to be on vacation and stick to what I need to in order to lose, or at least maintain. ::sigh::

Such a great work out today!! I feel AMAZING!

I did a 5 minute warm-up at 3.7MPH.
Then I jogged (at 5.2MPH) for FOUR minutes
walked (at 3.7MPH)/jogged/walked for 3 minutes each
jogged/walked for 2 minutes each
jogged/walked for 1 minute each
and then walked 1 more minute at 4.0MPH for a total of 25 minutes.

Last night Jed and I turned in to mall walkers. We went to a mall that's a mile circle and power-walked it three times. 3 miles and some great people-watching. :)

I talked to one of my good friends yesterday (who happens to be a personal trainer) and she gave me a lot of good tips. The Couch to 5K Challenge is great in and of itself for its purpose, but I need to build muscle in order to continue losing weight at the rate that I should be. So, I need to eat lots of protein, cut back on carbs, and strength train for 30-60 minutes on my days off of the C25K. Honestly, I'm not sure that I am up for working out 5x/week. It's been really hard to motivate myself to do 3x/week for the C25K. My point? I'm going to tweek my work outs over the next 2-3 weeks and see what works for me. I may not be continuing the C25K as outlined on the website, but I'm going to do what I need to do for me.

We went to the farmer's market last night and loaded up on fruits and vegetables. Yay!

Today, I was craving something sweet. On my way in to the cupboard for a piece of dark chocolate, I saw all of our delicious apples on the counter and chose one of those instead. Yay!
Ugh... You may have guessed, but we took a break from the Couch to 5K this week. Monday was our detox from the crazy weekend trip we took. We were going to pick up on Tuesday, but I sliced my finger/fingernail open while making dinner, so we spent the night at the clinic instead of the gym. Wednesday we both had meetings, Thursday was a bust, and tonight Jed will be going on a campout right after work. I promise we have not given up! Next week we will be back in full force.

Yes, I had a long week last week and yes, I skipped Wednesday and Friday work outs. Sue me. I'm not going to make excuses, I'm just going to re-do last week's schedule and keep moving.
It's funny how a little visit from Aunt Flo, some life-changing medical news, 3 days with an infant (which I love, but can make for a long day - moms are incredible), and a rigorous service project can really drain a person. But when I get to the gym, I am so happy to be there and feel so much better when I leave! I just needed to write that down so that I can look back and remind myself from time to time.

Good news: I get fuller faster, and I am getting a whole lot better at recognizing my body's cues. I even left about 3/4 cup of rice on my plate at lunch - had it been a year ago, I would have just eaten it because it was such a small amount and I wouldn't have wanted to waste it. I'm realizing that throwing it away is much better for me and I don't need to finish everything on my plate!

Also, I bought a pair of jeans when I was in San Antonio in July. They are loose now! Yay!

Today is day 4 of the C25K. Kicking it up another notch today - we'll see how it goes!

My mom and I are starting a Biggest Loser Challenge between the two of us. We only know each others' starting weights from this week and we won't be telling each other about our progress along the way. The final weigh-in will occur when I get to Ohio for Christmas. Wish me luck - I have $50 on the line!

My Story

Weight:
I was around 200 lbs when I started college. My first year, when I was walking everywhere because I didn't have a car, I lost 20 lbs and was down to the lowest weight I can ever remember being: 180. When I came home for the summer, I gained it all back. I started working in the food industry during my second year of college and never got that weight back off again.
I dated a guy for two years, and in that time I gained another 15-20 pounds. Back up to about 215/220. I went through a traumatizing break-up with him and lost a few pounds because I didn't eat for a week or two.
Over the next year, I gained 30 pounds. 30 POUNDS IN A YEAR!
When I got married I was at my heaviest, 250 lbs. That was two years ago. In that two years, getting comfortable being married and having a desk job, I gained 20 more pounds. As of last month, I hit my peak at 270.9 lbs.
TWO HUNDRED AND SEVENTY POUNDS!! Are you kidding me?!?! It was too much, the straw that broke the camel's back.

Size:
The smallest pant size that I've worn as an adult was a 12. Mostly I've hovered around size 16/18, but now I'm a full-blown size 22/24.

I started counting my calories and working out here and there, easing in to exercise. I've lost almost 10 lbs in the past month and a half!
